Welcome to 2010 at the AWPT. This will be our 6th season of play and we are as excited about it as we were the first year we started up. We had several changes going into the new year, however one big change that needed to be addressed. Over the years, we have done the Player Awards (Most Feared Payer, Rookie of the Year, and Player of the Year) several different ways. The system we used in 2008 and 2009 was slightly flawed and we did our best to adjust and make it the best it could be. However, we have decided to change how these awards are handed out for 2010 and forward.

In 2010 the Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards, will be awarded based on a points system mirrored from the WSOP point system. As you will see below, points are given out for each spot in the top nine positions. Each division will continue to have an award in each category. These points are only given out in the calendar year, and are separate from our WORLD RANKS.
Award Points:
1st - 100 pts
2nd - 75 pts
3rd - 60 pts
4th - 55 pts
5th - 50 pts
6th - 45 pts
7th - 40 pts
8th - 35 pts
9th - 30 pts

We will update these points weekly and you will be able to find the updated standings on the FORUMS. We are currently doing a website re-design, and will try to have them available on the site as well.

In 2010, as far as the Most Feared Player goes, we will have strictly a popular vote at the end of the year. We will likely do this with some sort of on-line voting system.

2010 should be a very important year for the AWPT. For the past 24 months we have seen our numbers drop, due mostly to a recession and crack down on on-line gaming. Though that may be the case we are dedicating to see growth in the AWPT this year. That is where we need you guys, at the tables, talking us up. Inviting your friends, heck even your enemies. Please take part in as many of your divisions SESSION games as you can. Weekly numbers are important to us and to those who are considering a sponsorship of the AWPT.
